Integrating Technology into K-2 Classrooms


Rationale

"The Internet and other forms of information and communication technology (ICT) such as word processors, Web editors, presentation software, and e-mail are regularly redefining the nature of literacy." from the IRA's Position Statement: Integrating Technology and Literacy into the Curriculum found online at: http://www.ira.org/positions/technology.html

Purpose

The purpose of this site is to provide K-2 educators in the Cedar Rapids Community School District with resources for integrating technology in the curriculum.  Also, this site should support teachers in meeting the following International Reading Association Professional standards:

5.7. Use instructional and information technologies to support literacy learning.

8.1. Provide opportunities to locate and use a variety of print, nonprint, and electronic reference sources.

12.4. Select and evaluate instructional materials for literacy, including those that are technology –based
